Coin Castle Casino, Las Vegas, $5 – Vintage Casino Chip
2nd Edition
Coin Castle was a casino located where La Bayou is today on Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas, Nevada.
Coin Castle opened on September 8, 1970. The casino was owned by Don Petit until June 30, 1977. Herbert Pastor later bought out Coin Castle after Petit stopped owning it. This also resulted in Coin Castle becoming a slots-only casino. The castle-themed casino later closed in 1999 to be renovated into the La Bayou, which lasted until 2016.
During its history, people would sometimes be given personalized key rings, gambling horoscopes, free wine, and more.
When the casino closed in 1999, neon letters, coins, and a statue of a king that once stood over the casino were all donated to the Neon Museum, and can all now be seen in the main boneyard.
