Opera House, Las Vegas, Merry Christmas 1996, $5 Vintage Casino Chip
Originally opening as the Opry House in 1978, the casino was located at 2542 Las Vegas Blvd North, just 3.5 miles from Downtown Las Vegas. It likely catered primarily to locals, though it also attracted enthusiastic tourists.
All Opry House chips were hot stamped. When the name changed to Opera House in 1985, the casino initially continued with hot stamped chips. Eventually, it transitioned to more colorful inlay chips, including Horse Head, Chipco, Unicorn, and Paulson molds. There are many cool commemorative chips for different holidays, including Valentine’s Day.
